The role of CEPE in the sustainable development of Kalamata

The Centre for Planning and Economic Research (CEPE) was founded in 1959 as a small research unit under the name “Centre for Economic Research”. The decision to establish it was taken by the then Prime Minister, Konstantinos G. K., who decided to establish the Centre as a research centre in 1959. The decision was taken by the then Governor of the Bank of Greece, Xenophontos E. Zolotas, and the first Scientific Director and Chairman of the Board was Professor Andreas G. Karamanlis. Papandreou, who was invited for this purpose by the University of Berkeley, USA. Since its foundation, the main purpose of the KEPE has been the scientific study of the economic problems of Greece, the encouragement of economic research and cooperation with other scientific institutions. The presentation will analyse the way in which the ELC can contribute to the sustainable development of Kalamata.
